New Year's Self Care: Diet and Exercise for Breastfeeding Moms

Happy New Year from NuMama and NuAngel, Inc! We hope that 2019 is a wonderful year for you and your family!

I began the new year in 2018 with a two-week-old and a three-year-old. 2018 was a year full of many blessings and special moments, but also a year of more challenges than I could have ever predicted. It was a year of adjustments- small and very large- and a year of getting into a new routine of meeting the constant needs of two small children in totally different stages. In many ways, 2018 was a year of "surviving".

One major thing that I neglected in 2018- in the thick of colic, illness, and sleep deprivation- was my own self-care. Have you been there, mama? I think at some point we all have. For me, self-care can mean: an hour to my self at the grocery store, dinner with a friend, or a very rare date-night with my husband. It also means taking care of my body. This can mean anything from taking the time to paint my nails, to eating healthier and getting consistent exercise.

I am personally very happy to say hello to 2019! This year, I'll be making an effort to not only take great care of my children, but to take great care of myself as well. As I am still currently breastfeeding, I've wondered how changes in my diet and exercise routines will affect my milk supply.
