The fabric is used by NuAngel for baby’s delicate skin, so when made into facemasks it should be gentle against the face. The cotton material is napped in production to create a soft flannel. NuAngel has found this type of material to be gentle against sensitive skin. It is also used for breathability as needed for masks.
NuAngel offers thicker fabrics such as white, natural, gray, gray dot, and mint. Lighter weight fabrics include ginghams, “Jesus Love Me” prints, camouflage, sage green, and animal prints. NuAngel has also added a double napped black flannel to the assortment. These fabrics can be purchased on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, or directly through NuAngel.com. We hope you enjoy using our American Made fabric. Stay safe and well!

In supporting cancer patients, there are different ribbon colors representing different types of cancer. For many patients, support items with the ribbon color representing their form of cancer is noticed. The lavender ribbon represents ALL types of cancer. NuAngel selected this color for the ribbon on their patented Support A Cure™ pillows.
Support A Cure™ pillows provide generalized comfort and relief for individuals going through the physical trials of illness. This was apparent for Teresa Carroll, owner of NuAngel, when her own daughter was going through chemotherapy and hospitalization. The multipurpose and multi-functional pillows offer a unique non-confining design with a curve and narrowing end for customized support. Support and comfort are provided when in use for the neck, back, or limbs. Available in three sizes as a set or individually, the pillows are machine washable and dryable. A portion of the proceeds are designated (donated) for cancer research.
]]>The features of the changing pad are as follows:
The NuAngel Changing Pad can be used at home or while traveling. The size covers most portable diaper changing stations to help protect baby when in public places. The size is also great for nursing moms while nursing in the side lying position. This provides a clean place for baby and protects the bedding from leaks. Baby, however, should not be allowed to sleep on any pad due to the need for safe sleeping practices.
NuAngel Changing Pads are made in the USA from USA made materials. The top layer consists of 100% soft cotton for comfort and absorption; a back layer of waterproof nylon to protect from leaks; and a biased edge for durability. The pad is available in a variety of colors and can be used for the duration of diapering!
]]>NuAngel understands the importance of what is needed in a nursing pad. Nursing pads should allow as much air circulation to the nipple as possible. This helps to keep the skin healthy and decreases the possibility of soreness. Health experts recommend the use of 100% cotton washable nursing pads and pads without the use of plastic or non-breathable water-proof liners. Cotton is breathable, absorbent, naturally hypoallergenic, and comfortable. This is the reason NuAngel manufactures a washable natural cotton nursing pad.
Understanding the importance of cotton, NuAngel also patented a biodegradable disposable nursing pads made with a layer of cotton next to the skin. The NuAngel Biodegradable Disposable Pads are different from other disposable pads. Most disposable nursing pads are made from the same materials as disposable baby diapers and sanitary pads. NuAngel Biodegradable Disposable Nursing Pads are made from three unique layers without the use of super absorbent polymers (SAP’s). These are not used because as the gels swell there is less pad breathability and the gels can leak back on the breast. NuAngel offers two discrete designs, a flower shape (60 count package) and a shell shape (30 count package). All products are award-winning!
]]>The cotton for the burp cloths is grown in the USA and made into fabric by NuAngel specifications. Cotton is the fabric of choice by NuAngel because it provides comfort, absorbency and is hypoallergenic. The award-winning cloths are made from a double-sided thick layer of quality 100% cotton flannel. The product is cut, sewn, and packaged by NuAngel in the USA.
NuAngel 100% Cotton Burp Cloths are available in white or natural (unbleached) cotton and measure approximately 11” x 18” in size. These cloths are available on www.NuAngel.com and also on www.Walmart.com. They are available in six or 12 count packages. These naturally soft cloths have many uses and are a favorite baby essential!

Cotton Inc. is a leading authority and globally recognized for information on cotton. Cotton has long been associated with the word "hypoallergenic". This is evident in many articles and documents in the cotton industry. Because our products with the approved Cotton Logo are made from natural cotton, we use the word "hypoallergenic" to help describe our 100% natural cotton products.
Now what does the word "hypoallergenic" actually mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary it is having little likelihood of causing an allergic response. The Cambridge Dictionary definition is designed to be less likely to cause allergic reactions (=physical problems caused by particular substances) in people who use a product. This does not mean an allergic reaction will not occur but means less likely for a reaction. Now why is cotton "less likely" to cause an allergic reaction? Cotton is a natural product and the breathability of cotton also makes it gentler on your skin. Cotton has also been around 1000's of years and is known for comfort!
To help avoid an allergic response, we recommend washing cotton products before use. This is because of the process of handling during production. For extra sensitive skin, we would suggest a second rinse cycle when washing to help make sure detergents (which can be irritating) are removed.
Currently, the U.S. government doesn't have standards that products must meet to use the word "hypoallergenic" in association with a product. With 100% natural cotton products, the word "hypoallergenic" is used because cotton is naturally hypoallergenic. We are proud to provide a cotton product line and to have permission to use the famous "cotton logo" on our products!

Having a professional background in language acquisition and education, building language and early literacy are topics that are very special and important to me. In celebration of Read Across America, I'd like to share several blog posts this Spring related to building language and literacy in your little ones! I'll share some professional resources, along with practical and fun tips for home.
So today, let's start with the books themselves! It’s never too early to start stocking a children’s library at home. Here are some simple and easy tips for starting and building your child’s library early:
Baby Shower
Are you expecting a baby, or planning a baby shower soon? On the shower or sprinkle invitation, add in “please send a book instead of a card.” Cards themselves can be $5-$6--just as much or more than a book! Instead of receiving a card, guests choose a book (as nice or as inexpensive as they wish) and sign their name and a special message inside the cover. This is an easy and special way to begin your baby’s library, and the books and special messages will be read year after year!
Books as Gifts
In my opinion, children can have too many toys (and mine do!), but they can never have enough books! Books open up a whole new world of adventures, literacy skills, language development, and promote life-long learning.
In our family, books are gifts, and we started this tradition even before our children were born. Our children receive books for each special occasion, holiday, birthday, and even sometimes vacation! We always write the date and write a “to and from” or a special message inside. As the years have passed, we've built quite the library! The neat part is that they aren’t “just books”, but reminders of special times that we’ve had in the past.
My oldest child is also to the age where she is getting invited to a lot of birthday parties! Books with a message from your child to another child makes a great gift, and I’m sure the parents appreciate a book rather than one more toy.
For our children and others, I’ve discovered the Kohl’s Cares Foundation! If you visit your local Kohl’s, or Kohl’s.com, you’ll see some of the most popular children’s books for $5 along with a matching $5 stuffed animal! They are such high quality books and stuffed animals, so a $5 price tag is a steal!
Kohl’s changes the books and animals frequently, so you can build quite the library. These are also great teacher gifts! The best part? These are 100% income tax deductible, and 100% of the net profit goes to the Kohl’s Cares Foundation to “support happier and healthier communities”.
Book Subscriptions
Did you know that there are many options for book subscriptions for little ones? This would be a simple and easy way to build your child’s library!
Have you heard of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library? If you qualify, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library will send your child a high-quality book once a month from birth to age 5! Check out https://imaginationlibrary.com to see if your child lives in an area that qualifies for this neat and free book subscription!
There are many paid subscriptions as well that have a wide range of price-tags, including: Amazon Prime Book Box, Reading Bug Box, My Book Box, OwlCrate, Jr. The Story Box, Kid Curated Books, and Tribe of Little Readers.
Second-Hand
If you visit your local consignment and thrift stores, you’re likely to find tons of children’s books! Most books that I have found are still in excellent condition and they are a fraction of the cost of buying them new. I imagine that these are simply books that are donated by families who have outgrown them and teachers who are clearing out their shelves.
Check out your local yard sales, too. Many families are so happy to see the faces of the children who are going home with their books!
Local Library
It’s always a treat for my children to visit the library! In our county, we have several libraries to choose from and they all have wonderful children’s sections. Our libraries have no limit to how many books that we can check out, but my general rule is 10. It’s an easy number to remember and I know that we can’t really dive into to more than that in two weeks!
I show my daughter the sections of the library that are appropriate for her, and then the choices are totally up to her. When we get home, I keep some of the books downstairs for her to thumb through herself, and the rest upstairs to read at bedtime. Checking out books from the library is a fun and free way to “mix-it-up” and promote a love of reading!
These are just a few fun ways that you can build your child's library at home! Check back soon for more posts related to early language and literacy building!
]]>According to the CDC’s flu forecast, “there is about a 90% chance that the flu has peaked.” That’s good news, but the flu is definitely still out there! Unfortunately, the CDC reports that the flu is likely to remain elevated for this month. Hopefully after that, we’ll have some warmer weather and less sickness to worry about!
In the meantime, did you know that NuAngel makes a natural cotton wipe that is just perfect for colds, flu, and upcoming seasonal allergies? In our house, we have said "good-bye" to regular tissues for our little ones and we use these instead! We’ve discovered that not only can regular tissues be irritating and leave reside behind, but they are just too much fun to pull out the of the box and tear into little tiny pieces!
NuAngel Natural Cotton Wipes are the softest wipes around for little noses! They are hypoallergenic and non-irritating, leaving no residue behind. They are so well-made that I simply wash them on “hot” or “sanitize”, dry, and they come out as good as new. They are a very economical, mess-free choice!

]]>I got “creative” last year when we had a newborn in the home during peak cold and flu season, as well as a 3-year-old who liked to be on-the-go. Many days we really had no choice but to stay at home, but my older child really needed to get some energy out.
If we weren’t able to go outside and play, we came up with several indoor activities to get moving! Some ideas are from my classroom days and other ideas came from Pinterest (be sure to follow NuAngel, Inc!). You can adjust these ideas down for toddlers, and up for elementary age kids.
Here are a few activities that we enjoy:
1) Obstacle Course
My daughter’s favorite! I start by clearing our living room of toys and push any coffee or end tables out of the way. Using what we had in the room, I’d create an obstacle course for her to complete again and again. It’s so easy and you simply use whatever is in your house!
For example, I’d use: couch cushions and pillows, a ball, a pop-up tunnel, and paper plates. I’d show her how to complete it: crawl over the couch cushion, then jump over the pillow, crawl through the tunnel, run down the hallway and back, pick up the ball, toss and catch the ball, then ring the bell.
I’d play music and then see how fast she could complete it. Then, we’d change it up!
2) Simon Says
My daughter was introduced to Simon Says at school and she loves it. I change it up to add in some physical activity: “Simon says hop like a bunny down the hallway and come back.”
3) Balloon Activities
If your child is old enough to handle a balloon (and other smaller ones aren’t around to try to put it in their mouths), there are many activities you can try. For example, they can play balloon volleyball, kick the balloon up in the air, or simply try to keep it in the air and not touch the ground.
4) 4 Corners
This is one where you can weave in other academic skills as well! Label 4 corners of the room with a piece of paper containing a color, number, letter, shape, animal, etc. Give instructions like: “Jump on one foot to the green corner. Hop to the red corner. Crawl to the blue corner, now walk backwards to the yellow corner.” With this, kids are staying active while identifying colors, shapes, letters, numbers, etc. .
5) Standing Activities
Use the back of wrapping paper to make a large space for art and tape to the wall using painter’s tape (that won’t damage your wall). Layer to make a large surface area. Your child can stand, bend, and stretch to make a large wall-art mural using crayons and stickers! You can also write large letters or numbers and they can trace or use dot markers.
6) Find the ____.
Send your explorer on a hunt to find objects you’ve hidden in the house. You can hide anything from Easter eggs, to blocks, to stuffed animals.
7) Animal Play
Does your child like animals? My daughter got out some energy by pretending to be different animals with movement and/or sound. For example, I’d say “hop like a kangaroo” or “run like a cheetah”. She’d make a “lap” around the house pretending to be that animal, then when she made it back to me, I’d give her a new one to try.
8) Exercise Videos
I found out that my daughter would respond to this when she was so fascinated to watch me do my own exercise video! So, when I play a video for myself, she likes to workout alongside me.
*YouTube has many exercise videos for kids that we have done together. It’s given me an opportunity to show her things like “jumping jacks”, “push-ups”, etc. I've been surprised at how much she enjoys these activities!
9) Take a Class
Is your child interested in a certain activity such as ballet or karate? *YouTube has many options that children can watch and participate in online. I will sometimes clear out a space and turn on preschool ballet lessons. It’s a fun way to get moving and be exposed to new skills at home.
10) Dance Party
Introduce your child to some new and engaging songs that he or she may be interested in, and dance along until the song is over. “Just Dance Kids” is a popular video on *YouTube where children can dance along with other kids and an instructor.
These are just a few activities that we have done to keep my preschooler moving when we’re “stuck” in the house. What are some ideas you have used in the past? Feel free to share them below!
*YouTube: Whenever we use this resource, I closely monitor the ads and stay in the room. There are many online dangers associated with YouTube and potentially inappropriate content, especially recently. I do not recommend using YouTube unsupervised, or just “letting it run.”
]]>As a mom who has experienced colic twice now, I can attest that nothing about colic is easy. Let me take a moment to encourage you and offer a few tips from a mom who has been there and come out on the other side. I hope this will be an encouragement to a mom out there who needs it!
1) Discuss with your Pediatrician
All babies cry, so is it colic? It can be hard to know. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, 2-3 hours of crying a day is considered normal, especially in the first three months. But, if your child cries for more than 3 hours a day, for more than 3 days a week, for more than 3 weeks, then your baby may have colic. Colic cries are generally intense and hard to soothe.
With my first child, I felt like our former Pediatrician ignored my concerns and shrugged me off as a new, inexperienced mom. My baby and I endured far more than we should have with very little support for this reason.
With my second, I brought the concerns to our wonderful Pediatrician and I was met with compassion and concern. I called the nurse-line frequently and little by little, the office helped me to help my baby. Their support was invaluable!
Whether you’re a first-time mom or a fourth-time mom, you are the expert on your baby! If you feel like your baby cries more than is "normal", reach out to your doctor for help and suggestions on how to soothe baby. If you feel brushed-off, don’t hesitate to find a new group who will meet you and your baby with support and compassion.
2) It’s Not You
With both colic babies, I was left thinking “What I am doing wrong?". Looking back, I realize that I was doing nothing wrong. I was tending to my babies every minute of the day, constantly trying to soothe and help them to feel better. I was doing everything I could!
It can feel very defeating not being able to comfort your own child, especially if you’re adding sleep deprivation to the mix. Add in the noise of the crying itself and it can make a perfect storm to make a mom feel discouraged.
It’s not you and you’re not “doing it wrong”. You love your baby no less that if he or she could be easily soothed.
3) Experiment and Embrace what Makes Baby Comfortable
Every baby is different and will like different things, so experiment and find something that your baby may respond to.
For some people, baby wearing helps, but neither of my babies liked to be worn in a carrier. Other babies, like my first, like being strolled in the stroller. I have vivid memories of pushing my first-born down the street, and even making laps around the inside of the house when it was dark!
My youngest daughter was only soothed in her car seat. She would cry for about the first minute, and then the vibration of the car would calm her down and she would sleep peacefully. So, every single day (and sometimes multiple times a day), we would go for a ride!
If my older daughter was at preschool, I would use this car time to have a mental break and listen to uplifting, calming music. Sometimes, I’d use the time to talk on the phone to a friend or family member, as my daughter most likely wouldn’t wake up. Other times, I just enjoyed the silence.
If my older daughter was at home, we’d all load up in the car and it would be a special treat time for her. For example, we’d ride until we got to a drive-through and she’d get a kid’s meal and have a “Car Picnic”. Other times, she watched a movie or listened to her choice of music in the car. Sometimes, she even needed her own quiet time as well!
Another thing that would calm my baby was going outside. Frequently, my husband would take her outside for just a few minutes (if it was very hot or cold), or for quite a while in nice weather. Even now, going outside helps to reset my baby’s mood.
4) Take a Break, Ask for Help, Accept Help
One of the biggest skills for survival was to take a break and ask for help. I must say that this is a learned-skill, and it was much easier to do with my second child with colic than the first.
With my first, I felt unnecessary guilt for needing a break from my screaming child. After all, she needed me! But, if you are listening to constant crying hour after hour, day after day, you need a break to take care of yourself.
It sometimes feels defeating or embarrassing, but asking for help is important! Talk to your husband, your family, or a trusted close friend.
Help for me came in the form of leaving the house for a few minutes every day. Some days, I left for 15 minutes when my husband came home, drove around the neighborhood, and then came back. Sometimes, I went to get the groceries in the evening or a Saturday morning when my husband was home. Taking a small break for myself helped me be able to take care of my babies better when I returned.
Other times, close friends or family members dropped food at my house or brought food when they came to visit. When you have a child with colic, cooking becomes a huge challenge. Accept help in the form of meals, even if you’re out of that newborn stage!
It’s hard to accept help sometimes, especially when you know that other moms have peacefully sleeping newborns and haven’t skipped a beat. Give yourself grace. You don’t have to write a thank you note or return the favor right away. Later down the road, you’ll be out of this season, and you can look for ways to give help in return!
5) Older Siblings: Talk and Spend Time
Colic was much easier to deal with the first time around. It didn’t last as long for my first daughter, and I was the only one affected during the daytime hours. My second daughter’s colic lasted about twice as long and I also had an older daughter in the house who was having to cope with it as well. This made me feel very frustrated, guilty, and helpless!
What I found most helpful was to be open and honesty with my daughter—as much as her little 3-year-old mind could handle. I verbally acknowledged that it was hard for both of us to hear baby sister cry and not be able to help her and make her happy.
When she showed interest, I encouraged her to help me soothe the baby by singing or gently bouncing her baby seat. I also talked to her about how much she cried as a baby and how I held, rocked, and strolled her. It comforted her to know that mama paid her just as much attention as a baby, and that now she is “grown up” and happy!
Whenever I could, I tried to steal little moments of quality time with her, either at home or out of the house. I won’t forget the first outing with just my older daughter about a month after our second daughter was born. We went down the road to the local bakery, picked out a treat, and ate it and talked. Oh, how I missed that calm, sweet time with just her. Taking a short amount of time helped us to bond and gave both of us the break that we needed.
6) This Will Pass
If your baby has colic, this season will feel never-ending. You will feel exhausted, defeated, and discouraged. But, take it from me, it will pass. I’ve survived twice! I now have a delightful preschooler and a much happier older baby who is learning more independence each day!
In this season, give yourself a pass. It’s harder said than done, but give yourself a pass on a home-cooked meal, putting laundry away right away, and a spotless floor. Give yourself a pass if you’re not able to attend a birthday party or something else “fun” that you normally would love. You’re surviving, mama; but before you know it, you and your baby will be thriving!

Coping with Crying
]]>
Valentine's Day is this Thursday! Believe it or not, Valentine’s Day has become one of my favorite holidays since becoming a mom! February 14th became a special day for our family as I found out that I was expecting our first daughter on Valentine's Day of 2014, after a long road of infertility. We love to think back on that special day and consider it a little anniversary of the beginning of our family!
In the years since, I’ve really enjoyed Valentine’s Day with our young children because it has been the “lowest pressure” holiday. There are no costumes, usually no big events, no big gifts, no traveling. There really are no big expectations or pressures to make it “perfect”, and it’s a holiday that you can make as stress-free or as “big-deal” as you’d like to!
For us, Valentine’s Day is a special day set aside to make memories and show our girls how much we love them! My husband and I try to go out on a date and spend a few hours to ourselves sometime around that day, but actual Valentine’s Day has become a family time for us in this season.
Every year has been different depending on the age and stage of our children, but we’ve made special memories all the same! We enjoy a variety of special activities, special meals, and gifts each year. I don't do *everything* I've listed below each year, but choose things based on what my children will enjoy and what will make "stress free" family time!
Here are a few Valentine’s activities, meals, and gifts that we have enjoyed in the past!
Valentine's Activities
One fun activity that we do each year is take a special Valentine’s photo at home! We love documenting our girls around Valentine’s Day and have fun using our at-home photo props!
We also enjoy buying a Valentine’s outfit for our girls to wear in the month of February. We wear them for our pictures at home and try to wear them as much as we can during the month!
Keepsake Crafts are so much fun to make at home! Each year, we’ve made a hand or footprint canvas in the shape of a heart as a gift for my husband. They’re a simple gift that we pull out each year for decoration. I love it when my daughter brings home keepsake crafts from school and we display these each year as well!
Is your child old enough to enjoy games and activities? Valentine’s is a perfect time for easy, inexpensive activities. For example, you can play “find the hearts” by hiding foam hearts around the house (like Easter eggs) for your child to find! You can buy a bag of conversation hearts and do simple activities like sorting by color, patterning, and stacking games.
My daughter likes to play play-doh bakery and make “special treats” with play-doh, heart cookie cutters, and conversation hearts!
Valentine's Day isn't complete without actually making Valentine's! Depending on the age and interest of your child, this can be as simple as adding stickers to store bought cards or as involved as actually making homemade cards. My daughter has shown interest in making homemade cards this year and has enjoyed using heart shapes, google-eyes, and glue by herself for the first time!
Meals and "Special Treats"
My daughter loves to make “special treats” at home! In the past, we’ve made easy heart cookies or cupcakes and let her decorate them. It’s more about the time together and the process than the end result!
We also love to visit the local family-owned bakery and pick out “special treats” for her preschool teachers and her daddy. We love their heart-shaped strawberry mini-cakes! Visiting the bakery has been a fun tradition that we’ll continue!
On our first Valentine's Day with children, our daughter was 4-months-old and we managed to cook a nice dinner at home! We ate at the dining room table and used our nice dishes. This was manageable and a fun "home" date with just one baby!
In this season with our two little children, our “special meals” are simple and easy! For breakfast, we’ve done heart-shaped pancakes or cinnamon rolls. Did you know you can make a heart-shaped cinnamon roll by unrolling a pre-made canned cinnamon roll, pinching in the middle, and rolling the two ends into a heart shape?
For dinner this year, our “special meal” will be a heart-shaped pizza picked up after dance practice! You can buy these pizzas at local shops, or make one yourself. Sometimes, I buy heart plates from the dollar tree to make it really feel like a family party.
In a few years, we plan to make our own nicer dinner and pull out the nice China for our girls!
Gifts
Each year, I buy an inexpensive Valentine’s gift bag for each girl and add a few special surprises for them to open. They’re usually nothing fancy, but putting them in a gift bag tends to add to the excitement! If you choose to do gifts for your little ones, here are some ideas that we have used in the past:
On her first Valentine’s Day, my oldest daughter turned 4-months-old. My husband surprised us both with a special engraved sterling silver rattle. It’s become a special baby keepsake that is displayed in her room. This has become a tradition and my youngest daughter will receive hers this year!
Each year following, our daughters have received Valentine’s Books! To me, books are a wonderful gift for any occasion. We like to write a special note to our daughters and the date in the cover of the book. They can be read any time of year, but we make a special book basket at the beginning of February with all of the Valentine’s books from years past. It’s special to re-read the notes out loud to our daughters! You can even do this in lieu of a card.
Last year, my daughter received her first flowers from her daddy at age 3. We didn’t know if she’d care much about them, but it was her absolute favorite thing! She was so proud to receive her own flowers just from her daddy!
One inexpensive gift that our girls absolutely love is a Valentine’s helium balloon! Who knew something so inexpensive and simple could make such a big impact? Last year, even our two-month-old was mesmorized by her Valentine’s balloon!
Next year, when our daughter is five, we plan to get her another keepsake item—her first piece of jewelry from us. Of course, it will be nothing too expensive or excessive, but we know our daughter will feel like such a special “big girl” wearing her first real jewelry! You can start this earlier with “little girl” play jewelry, or even a baby bracelet.
Do your little ones need any practical items? Don’t count these out! This year, our oldest will receive a new unicorn lunch box in her Valentine’s Bag to replace the lunchbox she’s had since she was a baby. We have also done new crayons or play-doh, cups, or anything else practical that needs to be replaced.
We are a card-loving family, so we choose a special Valentine’s Card for our girls each year. We each write a special message to our girls and try to write about something that is currently happening in their lives. We save them in a keepsake box that they can read later!
A traditional Valentine’s gift is a stuffed animal or doll. Last year, our girls got small stuffed animals with their names added. Is your stuffed animal collection out of control? Ours is beginning to be, so this year, we’re skipping this part! I’ve also started storing “holiday” stuffed animals and toys and pulling them out just around that holiday. It’s like having new themed toys every year!
Of course, you can’t forget about candy on Valentine’s Day! Our older daughter didn’t receive candy until age 3. This year, she’ll get her own small box of chocolates! I remember getting a box of chocolates each year, so I’m excited for her to have her own small box this year.
These are a few of our family favorites for Valentine's Day! What are some ways that your family celebrates Valentine's Day with your little children?

]]>If you’re unfamiliar with the term, a "Baby Sprinkle” is simply a term to describe a small party in honor of the parents expecting an additional child. Traditionally, mothers only had one shower; however, now it is common and acceptable to gather to celebrate the lives of additional children—just on a smaller scale.
A Baby Sprinkle can be thrown in a variety of different ways! The family typically already has the larger items that they need, so the gifts tend to be smaller and more practical. The sprinkle can also focus on the expectant Mom this time, helping her to stock up on the things she will need to welcome her new addition!
My baby sprinkle was a special celebration just for family to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our second daughter. Since I already had one daughter, family members brought diapers and wipes, smaller baby items that I needed to replenish, and items for me. It was also special to receive a few items for our new baby that weren’t going to be hand-me-downs, but just for her—such as monogrammed items.
If you’re shopping for a Baby Sprinkle, look no further than NuAngel, Inc.! Browse www.NuAngel.com for all-things mom and baby—from practical to personalized. Here are a few of my favorite items for a Baby Sprinkle!
For Mom
Mom will need more than just meals and encouragement to welcome this new baby! The expectant mom has already experienced newborn life once and has learned what she will likely need. She’ll have less time to care for herself, as she will be not only have a newborn, but will be transitioning an older sibling as well.
For a sprinkle, it’s perfectly acceptable to ask Mom what practical care items she would like and will need! Here are some of my favorite helpful items from NuAngel, Inc:
NuAngel’s Washable and Disposable Nursing Pads are a great gift for any mom who plans to breastfeed! They are an essential item that she will need from day one! NuAngel offers a variety of different styles and types of nursing pads of the highest quality 100% cotton, for an affordable price.
NuAngel’s Disposable Nursing Pads are discrete, soft , and very absorbent! I like to wear them on-the-go because I can simply throw them away when I need to change them. I keep some in my purse and diaper bag! They come in two unique designs for optimal coverage and protection.
Washable Nursing Pads are ultra-soft and made of 100% cotton! They provide great protection against leaks and are soft against sore areas or abrasions. They are a high-quality essential item that will last wash after wash.
https://nuangel.com/collections/nursing-pads
Trinity Support and Nursing Pillows are an awesome idea for any expectant mom! They can be used in a variety of different ways to support a resting mom during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and recovery. As a nursing pillow, they come in three different sizes and their unique shape supports the nursing baby and provides an incline for babies with reflux as well!
https://nuangel.com/collections/trinity-maternity-nursing-pillows
For Baby: Practical and Personalized
After so many uses from the first child, practical items may be left looking very “loved”—so replenishing items, such as burp pads and blankets, is always appreciated!
Also, the family may be expecting a child of the opposite gender! The mom-to-be may appreciate re-stocking every day baby items in blues or pinks if she only has the opposite color.
Personalized gifts are a special touch for any new baby! Personalized items are popular at Baby Sprinkles, to provide an item that is special just for this baby, rather than a hand-me-down. NuAngel offers very affordable personalization on many items--$5 for monogram and $7 for a name!
Available in a wide variety of prints and colors, NuAngel Large Contoured Burp Pads are a perfect gift for the parents to be! Their unique design gives greater shoulder and back coverage while holding and burping baby. They are soft and gentle on baby's delicate skin. They can also be personalized, which is great for taking in the diaper bag! NuAngel offers two affordable options, in a set of two or four:
https://nuangel.com/collections/burp-pads-cloths
The NuAngel Large Receiving Blanket is a wonderful, versatile gift! It’s large size is great for a stroller blanket, nursing blanket, floor play, changing tables, and much more. It's also a great size for a toddler blanket, so it can grow with baby. It’s 100% cotton, durable, and washable. Add a name or monogram for an extra-special touch that will transform this blanket into a keepsake.

]]>When our children are little, it seems like they are constantly sick and every public outing is a risky endeavor. Of course, some illness is unavoidable and their little immune systems must build up. However, sometimes it's hard to spot the difference between a little cold and something more serious.
We all know about the flu, but how much do you know about RSV? RSV is a very common respiratory virus which usually presents like a mild cold to most people, but can be very dangerous to infants and young children, the elderly, and other adults with chronic respiratory conditions. According to the CDC, "almost all children will be infected with RSV by the second birthday." Symptoms of RSV include: coughing, wheezing, fever, runny nose, and a decrease in appetite.
RSV, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, was a new term to me a few years ago as a new mom. My first daughter- at 15 months old- was very sick with wheezing, coughing, chest congestion, and fever. She was sick for weeks, we administered breathing treatments twice a day, and she continued to have chest congestion for months. We were acquainted with RSV very well that year. However, sometimes it's not as easy to spot.
Several weeks ago, I began to notice changes in my 13-month-old. She was more irritable, clingy, and refusing solids. At first, I thought she was just teething. Then, she began unlatching frequently while nursing, and I could feel a little "rattle" in her lungs while my hand was on her back. That's when the red flag went up: I needed to get her checked for RSV right away. Why so urgently? First, RSV can worsen quickly for infants. Secondly, we have another young child in our home and I fall in the chronic respiratory condition category. It was important for all of us just to know if RSV was in our home.
I made an appointment and got in to see our doctor the same day. My daughter only had a low-grade temp and her lungs sounded relatively clear, with just a little chest congestion. At first, our pediatrician thought it was just a little cold, but gave me the option to get her swabbed for RSV. Sure enough, the test came back positive! She either had a very mild case of RSV, or the virus was about to get much worse. Luckily, she just had a very mild case; however, I can still feel some chest congestion weeks later.
RSV was easy to spot in my first daughter, but not in my second. Even our wonderful Pediatrician didn't recognize it right away! That's why RSV can be tricky as well as dangerous. It's also highly contagious! If you suspect that you child may have RSV, please take your child to be tested by your pediatrician. The test is a simple swab and results come back quickly.
Want to learn more? I found this article, "RSV: When It's More Than Just a Cold" by the American Academy of Pediatrics to be extremely helpful as a mom a few weeks ago!

]]>Two of our favorite outings in the past week have been to our local Zoo and Science Center. It was a lot of fun watching our 4-year-old enjoy things for the first time as a "big kid" and to watch our 1-year-old discover new sights and sounds. Hand-wipes and hand sanitizer were our "best friends", but one unavoidable situation made me cringe: diaper changes in public restrooms.
At both locations, there was a line for the baby changing area. Each time, I observed mamas placing their babies directly onto the changing table and allowing their exposed (and un-wiped) skin to touch the table! Not only is that hazardous to their baby, but it is also hazardous to the babies who follow. Because of situations like this, I generally try to change my baby's diaper in my car's tailgate; however, that's not always an option!
NuAngel Changing products are a wonderful solution for both scenarios. For an all-day outing, I generally pack two NuAngel Changing Pads and two NuAngel Receiving Blankets. Here is how I use them in both my car's tailgate and on public changing tables:
Tail-Gate
When we arrive at a location, I try to change my baby before we ever enter our location because I know that our tailgate is a cleaner scenario than a public restroom. I place one NuAngel Changing Pad down on the tailgate and change my baby quickly and easily- mess and germ-free. I leave this changing pad in the car for a clean place to change when we get back to the car- and to have a spare in case my changing pad in the diaper bag gets dirty.
On cold winter days, I use one of the receiving blankets on my baby to keep her warm and comfortable while her diaper is being changed in the cold air! Then, I place this one back in the diaper bag as my "clean" blanket- which can be used to cover her up in the stroller or as a nursing cover.
Public Restroom
Sometimes, it's not possible to avoid changing a diaper on the changing table of a public restroom. In this case, NuAngel products are perfect!
The NuAngel Changing Pad has a large surface area that provides ample space to keep baby clean and germ-free. If you have an older baby or toddler who wiggles and rolls like mine, there is a simple solution. Simply pack an additional "diaper changing" receiving blanket on top of or below the changing pad for additional surface area. With this diaper changing trick, I know that my older baby is less likely to touch a germ-filled surface and bring an illness home from our trip!
NuAngel Changing Pads fold or roll small and compact in your diaper bag. I generally place a used changing pad and/or receiving blanket in a large ziplock bag, or in a totally separate part of the diaper bag. Especially in the winter, it's important not to transfer germs from the changing area to your diaper bag!
We love our NuAngel Products and they are perfect for on-the-go! Check out the NuAngel Website for full product descriptions and ordering information!

I began the new year in 2018 with a two-week-old and a three-year-old. 2018 was a year full of many blessings and special moments, but also a year of more challenges than I could have ever predicted. It was a year of adjustments- small and very large- and a year of getting into a new routine of meeting the constant needs of two small children in totally different stages. In many ways, 2018 was a year of "surviving".
One major thing that I neglected in 2018- in the thick of colic, illness, and sleep deprivation- was my own self-care. Have you been there, mama? I think at some point we all have. For me, self-care can mean: an hour to my self at the grocery store, dinner with a friend, or a very rare date-night with my husband. It also means taking care of my body. This can mean anything from taking the time to paint my nails, to eating healthier and getting consistent exercise.
I am personally very happy to say hello to 2019! This year, I'll be making an effort to not only take great care of my children, but to take great care of myself as well. As I am still currently breastfeeding, I've wondered how changes in my diet and exercise routines will affect my milk supply.

Last year, our daughter was expected to arrive in early January, but made her grand appearance just a few days before Christmas! Her name was included on the family gift swaps since she was due so close to Christmas. When asked what we needed, I suggested the "essentials". Being the second girl, she already had most of the toys and clothes that she would need for the whole first year!
While we had some essentials from our first daughter, such as blankets and burp cloths, they were very well "loved" and it was nice to have some fresh, new essentials that were all her "own". A personalized monogram or name made the items even sweeter!
NuAngel, Inc. offers personalization of items for such an affordable price! Monogram initials are $5 and a name is $7. NuAngel products are already such high-quality, affordable products, that personalization (and free shipping!) is just the "icing on the cake"!

Even if straps feel tight under a carseat, they may actually be dangerously loose: loose enough to make your child slip out of the carseat completely in the event of a crash. According to Safe Ride 4 Kids, "Bulky winter coats and car seats are a dangerous combination. Carseat technicians say to put nothing thicker than a sweatshirt on your child under the harness straps of a car seat." Wearing a coat in a carseat may put your child in a deadly situation.
So, how should you load and unload your kids on cold winter days? Safe Ride 4 Kids outlines awesome tips here:

]]>Christmas preparations are now underway with tree decorating and gift-buying. We’re anticipating a fun-filled, exciting Christmas season this year with our four and one-year-old! As we’ve been preparing and suggesting gifts for our children, one concern has come to my mind: toy safety.
Right now, our older daughter is mature enough to play with and enjoy toys with small pieces. These toys are developmentally appropriate for her and help to develop her fine motor skills; however, we now have an 11 month old cruising around on the floor! It’s a constant battle to make sure no tiny pieces have landed on the floor that may make it into her mouth!
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there were an estimated 251,700 toy-related injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments in 2017. As we’re buying or receiving gifts for your little ones this year, let’s keep toy safety at the forefront of our minds!
Here are toy safety tips to keep in mind and links for additional information on toy safety:
Toy Safety Tips
1) Always read the age range, package information, and potential hazards when considering a toy.
2) When unwrapping toys, throw away packaging pieces immediately, as they may contain choking hazards.
3) Double-check that there aren’t small parts or other potential choking hazards, especially for curious younger siblings.
4) Make sure batteries are secured safely for battery-operated toys.
5) Store toys in a container when playtime is over. At our house, we reserve the baby’s naptime as a time for toys with small pieces. When baby wakes up, we double-check the floor and put toys with small pieces away.
6) Keep an eye on recalls. You can sign up for recall alerts on safekids.org and www.recalls.
