NuAngel Thinks Pink!

NuAngel Thinks Pink!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Did you know that breastfeeding and breast cancer prevention are topics that go hand-in-hand?

NuAngel, Inc. is a Women-Owned Business, passionate about women’s health and encouraging mothers during their breastfeeding journeys. NuAngel is “thinking pink” this month as we remember lives lost, celebrate survivors, and spread awareness about breast cancer prevention.

Moms, we've all heard that there are tremendous benefits for your baby when you breastfeed. However, did you know that breastfeeding your baby is also good for your health? Did you know that breastfeeding can lower your risk of developing breast cancer in the future? The longer you are able to breastfeed, the more protection you will receive.

According to Susan B. Komen.org:

  • Mothers who breastfed for a lifetime total (combined duration of breastfeeding for all children) of 1 year were slightly less likely to get breast cancer.
  • Mothers who breastfed for a lifetime total of 2 years got about twice the benefit of those who breastfed for a total of 1 year.
  • Mothers who breastfed for a lifetime total of more than 2 years got the most benefits. https://ww5.komen.org/Breastcancer/Notbreastfeeding.html

In addition, the longer you are able to breastfeed, the more protection your child will receive!

MD Anderson.org states, “Evidence shows that it (breastfeeding) can help prevent your child from being overweight or obese later in life. Being obese puts a person at risk for many cancers. This includes pancreatic, breast (postmenopausal),endometrial, esophageal, rectal and kidney cancers.”

So, breastfeeding mothers, be encouraged! The breastfeeding journey is not always easy, but both you and your baby will reap the benefits.
